Take Root in 2009

We have begun a journey together to deepen our relationship with God and one another.  Our emphasis in 2009 is Worship +2.

Worship Plus Two means having a high level of commitment to be part of our faith family at First UMC.  In the coming year, we are asking everyone to:

Attend worship each week unless providentially hindered

Commit to at least one spiritual formation group

Serve at least one hour each week.

Worship is central to the life of the church and our life together.  Worship binds us together as a community as we come together to offer our praise and thanksgiving to God.  However, we are also bound to one another and have an investment, as such.  That’s where the “+2” enters.  Entering into a small group allows us to do something for one’s self and by serving each week, we have the opportunity to do something for someone else.  When we spend time in a small group, we are being nurtured in the Body of Christ and when we spend time serving, we are nurturing others.

A brochure will be available that outlines the three ministry emphasis’ that are offered.  Please make every effort to be part of this “new beginning” this coming Sunday.  I pray that you would make a commitment to these simple, yet powerful, standards that have the ability to be life-changing.
